Deadlock between the labour union and the management of Rico Auto Industries,Gurgaon,continued on Wednesday,a day after workers from the unit along with thousands of others from the Gurgaon-Manesar belt went on strike and crippled industrial activity.

While workers at Rico’s Gurgaon unit kept up their agitation,representatives of the workers and the management met with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pushpendra Chauhan to sort out the issue. But the two-hour-long meeting ended in a stalemate,it was informed.

Chauhan,chairman of the committee formed to look into workers’ unrest in the industrial belt,has asked both sides to maintain peace and called for another meeting at his office on Friday morning.

Workers from several industrial units in Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal belt took part in a day-long strike on Tuesday to protest the death of a Rico employee — Ajit Yadav — in a group clash outside the Gurgaon unit on Sunday.

While normalcy returned to most units in the belt,workers of Rico and Sunbeam (Hero Honda’s engine casting unit in Gurgaon) continued their strike on Wednesday.

Post-meeting,Surendra Singh,senior vice-president of Rico Industries,said,“We have agreed to adhere by what the administration has prescribed. We have also requested the committee that our workers willing to resume work should not be threatened by protestors.”

State AITUC secretary Bechu Giri said: “There was a state-level union meeting at Panipat on Tuesday — it was decided there to hold today’s protest rallies at all 21 district headquarters to extend our support.”
