Accused in Chirag Dilli crash held

The main accused in Saturday’s accident near Chiraag Dilli,which claimed three lives,has been arrested. Abandoning the Hyundai Verna,he,with two others,had fled.

The main accused in Saturday’s accident near Chiraag Dilli,which claimed three lives,has been arrested. Abandoning the Hyundai Verna,he,with two others,had fled. Police said Vikram Singh is a relative of the car owner Jagmohan Singh Bakhad,who is in London. A resident of Malviya Nagar,Vikram runs an auto repairing shop. He had gone for a snack with two relatives,one a woman,to Greater Kailash. They were returning home when the accident occurred. “As far as we can ascertain,Vikram was not inebriated,” said a police officer. Medical examination did not reveal alcohol either. “But through eyewitness accounts and Vikram’s statement,it has been established that he was speeding,” he said. Vikram and his relatives were injured in the accident. Sources said he got admitted in a private nursing home in Patel Nagar,where medical examination revealed that he was inebriated. The police medical examination did not reveal alcohol because it was done too late.
