A Parisian Affair

Kolkata-based Vizyon will show at the Pret-a-Porter show in the French capital

When Shradha Murarka launched Vizyon in 2006,the only thing that mattered to her was to provide contemporary clothing to fashion lovers. Not only has this Kolkata-based label achieved that goal but it has also had international designers — such as Filippo Agnelli (Italy) and Kao Meifen (Taiwan),among others — create special lines for the hip and global Indian woman.

This year marks another milestone for Vizyon even as Murarka, the Founder and Creative Director, readies to travel with Vizyon’s capsule collection to Paris. “We are making our international debut with our participation in the Who’s Next segment of the prestigious trade show Pret-a-Porter in Paris,” she says.

Scheduled to take place from July 6,Pret-a-Porter is a three-day event, touted as the market leader among international fashion trade shows in Paris for over 20 years. The label has been part of several multi-

designer exhibitions, trunk shows and Mumbai’s Lakme Fashion Week.

The collection to be shown in Paris will mostly have ready-to-wear creations with a smattering of couture made with fabrics such as georgette, taffeta with leather detailing and lame. “Our line has around 40 creations mostly with abstract prints and geometry-inspired shapes. In keeping with our USP,we have focused on western clothing — cocktail wear and structured short dresses or jersey trunks, jackets and skirts,” says Murarka.
