7 societies in Noida booked for improper waste disposal, 6 fined lakhs

High-rise society in Noida (Representational image)The Noida Police has booked seven housing projects that were found violating the National Green Tribunal’s rules related to the treatment of waste on their premises during site inspections, officials said Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, Rambadan Singh, said an investigation has begun in the case. “We have to listen to the claims of both parties — societies and authority officials. We will prepare a map, verify violations, and seek expert opinion, if needed,” he said.
“The chargesheet will be filed once the investigation is complete.”
According to a statement from the Noida Authority, an inspection of the sites was undertaken by its environmental and water works department.
“… the constituted environmental and water works team of the Noida Authority inspected sites of the housing societies — RG Residency in Sector 120; Sikka Karmic Greens in Sector 78; Granite Gate Properties Pvt. Ltd. (Lotus Boulevard) in Sector 100; Purvanchal Royal Park in Sector 137; Aims Max Gardenia Golf Ecocity in Sector 75; Prateek Buildtech Private Limited (Prateek Stylome) in Sector 45; and Amrapali Silicon City in Sector 76. The sewage treatment plants (STP) is not functioning under the required capacity,” it read.
“These societies were found violating provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981, and provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2000 and 2016,” read the statement.
According to Lokesh M, Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, “These societies are dumping their wastewater into stormwater drains without treating the same as per the rules, which is a violation of environmental rules and provisions of the NGT.”
The authority has also informed the Uttar Pradesh regional pollution control board officials about this violation so suitable action can be taken against the management of these societies.
“Meanwhile, a fine of Rs 11,90,000 was imposed against RG Residency; Rs 20,30,000 against Sikka Karmic; Rs.17,90,000 against Purvanchal Royal Park; Rs. 29,45,000 against Aims Max Gardenia; Rs 18,30,000 against Prateek Stylome; and Rs 19,20,000 against Amrapali Silicon City,” the statement stated.
