"They were signalled by the police personnel to keep a distance from the fleet, but the driver did not listen to them and rammed into the government vehicle of the traffic police, causing minor damage to the vehicle. Both of them were drunk,” said an officer.

The Noida police arrested two people on Friday for obstructing the convoy of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan while he was on his way to Delhi. Officials said Khan was going to Delhi after visiting a high-rise society in Noida after a programme.
“On July 28, a programme of the Kerala Governor was scheduled at Express Zenith Society of Noida located in Sector 113 Police Station area. After the programme, the Governor was being safely taken by police towards the Delhi border. Around 22.45 pm, as the VIP fleet was passing through the Sector 76 metro station, the driver of a black colour Mahindra Scorpio car suddenly obstructed the VIP fleet by rash and negligent driving,” said an official.
“They were signalled by the police personnel to keep a distance from the fleet, but the driver did not listen to them and rammed into the government vehicle of the traffic police, causing minor damage to the vehicle. Both of them were drunk,” added the officer.
The accused have been identified as Gaurav Solanki and Monu Kumar, a resident of Ghaziabad. Officials said both of them have been arrested and produced before the court, which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
“A case under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) have been registered against them in Sector 113 police station. Their Scorpio vehicle has been seized under the Motor Vehicle Act,” said the official.
