State reserve police constable hangs himself

A 45-year-old Karnataka State Reserve Police constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging in his Rajagopalanagar house Monday night.

A 45-year-old Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging in his Rajagopalanagar house Monday night. G V Venkataramaiah of Kunigal in Tumkur district was part of the 4th battalion. His son Kiran found the body Tuesday morning. The police said Venkataramaiah,an alcoholic,was absent from work for the past 20 days. They said he often fought with wife Varalakshmamma and two sons and a daughter. The police said Varalakshmamma and the children were away when Venkataramaiah allegedly committed suicide.

2 killed in separate road accidents

Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the city Tuesday morning. A 27-year-old was killed after he was knocked down by a KSRTC bus while crossing a road at Malleswaram. V Ganesh,a daily wage earner who worked at a construction site,was residing in Malleswaram. He was crossing the road in front of Jyothi Bakery around 9.10 am when a speeding KSRTC bus hit him. Ganesh was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. Bus driver Mahadevappa Akandappa has been arrested.

A 36-year-old biker riding without a helmet died after he lost control and crashed into the median of the Outer Ring Road at Coolie Nagar around 5 am. Krishna Murthy,a resident of Rajajinagar,was an employee of a private firm.
