Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Saturday announced veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty’s name as her party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections in the state.The TMC is yet to decide on candidates for four other seats. “In our state, five Rajya Sabha members will be elected this time. One of these seats will be given to Shri Mithun Chakraborty,” Mamata posted on Facebook. “He is a well-known film personality who has devoted his life to the cause of cultural and social activities. We are proud to nominate him.”The Rajya Sabha election for 55 seats is scheduled for February 7, while the last date for filing nomination papers is January 28.
