It added that Vijayakanth would possibly be staying in the hospital for a period of 14 days.
In a bulletin the hospital had issued a week ago, it was noted that Vijayakanth was responding well to the treatment for his febrile illness and is stable and performing all bodily functions independently.
It was also stated that after a few days of observation, he would be ready to go home and resume his usual activities.
Following the health update, political leaders and film personalities wished Vijayakanth a speedy recovery on social media.
Vijayakanth, fondly referred to as Captain, was known for his powerful action sequences and fiery dialogues in his movies. He floated his own political party and contested the Assembly polls in 2006.
He turned the tables in the 2011 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu by joining hands with the AIADMK. His party secured 29 seats, pushing DMK to a distant third, and became the state’s primary Opposition.
After experiencing consecutive defeats in the following elections, his party fell flat and Vijaykanth’s health also suffered a setback, leading him to refrain from participating in public gatherings.
