Manveen Anand and Nishith Gupta bring us up,close and personal with the trees, the water and some bits of history from across the world
The camera is often your best companion while travelling. For Manveen Anand and Nitish Gupta,it has always been the case. But instead of capturing the cityscape as they visit places across the globe, they have focussed on the landscape and the sunset.
And now, they have presented some of those snapshots of nature and moods of life through a photography exhibition Reflections.
Forty-two images take you through the hues of nature that we tend to ignore in our busy lives. Suspended on the wall, theres a photograph of a beach at Tarragona,Spain, reflecting the beauty of the sun in all its glory. It captures the exact moment of dawn when everything wears a shade of orange. Search for the shore captures the placidity of water, the perfection of natural cuts, lines and curves at the Persian Gulf.
It is our attempt to capture the beauty of nature and experience emotions that we miss out on in our busy lives, says Anand,as he showcases his favourite snapshot, that of Indian Ocean in shades of blue and grey, with just a streak of light.
Collected over a span of three years,a few historical spots also find place in the exhibition. One of them is that of Purana Kila, focussing on it intricate artwork. Clicked from an angle, the shot is a fine study in architecture and photography. Fighting Beauty captures a dying leaf, making you realise the beauty and inevitability of aging, while Blissful Morning spectacularly captures the chiseled perfection of a tree in autumn.
Also exhibited here are some photographs of the Golden Temple and Bangla Sahib gurdwaras and the winning entries from the recent Chandigarh Chrysanthemum show.
Organised in association with Global Environmental Concern, the exhibition is on at Alliance Française,Sector 36,till August 12.
