In a bid to marry design and fashion, the Spring-Summer edition of the Wills India Fashion Week (WIFW) 2013 that begins today at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, will have “Devnagari lipi” as its theme and backdrop. Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has decided to extend this theme to the invites, passes, souvenirs, look and feel of the venue this time. Even the logo of the fashion week has been done up in the Brahmic script.

Created by Mumbai-based group Bombay Design House and the FDCI,the logo uses vibrant colours such as yellow, orange and green for swirls of four letters that have been put together by way of some bold ink strokes. The new look also extends to the paraphernalia for WIFW and is an effort to introduce a fresh idea.

“We were looking at reinventing India at WIFW. After all, international guests and buyers should experience a little bit of our culture through the look and feel of the venue as well as the garments,” said Sunil Sethi,President FDCI. Sethi further explained that the FDCI had set up a special creative designing committee, comprising designers Rohit Bal,David Abraham,Rajesh Pratap Singh and Suneet Varma for the same.
