A 22-YEAR-OLD woman,Puja,who was working as a labourer in a private factory in Himachal Pradesh,was allegedly strangulated to death on IT road,Panchkula,in the wee hours of Wednesday. Police have registered a murder case against unidentified people at Mansa Devi Complex police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Panchkula),Maneesh Chaudhary,The initial finding of the post mortem have confirmed murder by strangulation but not rape. We have registered a murder case under Section 302 of the IPC. The family does not suspect any one for this murder. Police said Puja,a resident of Bhaisa Tibba,Panchkul,a had left for her workplace in Badhi around 4.30 am and was found lying on the road near Shop-Cum-Office-3 on IT road at 8 am. The body was noticed by a local businessman when he was on his way to his shop. We found no visible external injury,but a scarf was found around her neck, an officer at MDC police station said. Police said that the body was identified by her family members and was turned over to General Hospital in sector 6 for the postmortem. Pujas mother,Swatri,said that her daughter was working as a labourer at a Vardhman factory at Badhi and used to always leave in the wee hours. She was working in the factory for the past one year and used to leave home very early to reach the factory in time. She had no animosity with anyone. She was earning livelihood to support me me and her brother. She was getting married in January, Sarita said.
