Will reduce water demand supply gap by 49% in two years: Manohar Lal Khattar
The CM said that Haryana Treated Waste Water Policy was formulated with the goal of using 50 per cent treated water by 2025.

The Haryana government is working to reduce the gap between the demand and supply of water by about 49 per cent in the next two years through conservation, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Saturday said. “A portal has been developed to invite online applications from farmers. Approximately 50,000 farmers have registered on this site. Similarly, a strategy for on-farm water tanks has been developed for micro irrigation. Under the Amrit Sarovar Mission started by the Prime Minister, work on 1312 ponds has been completed, and work on 981 ponds is going on,” Khattar said. He shared the details during eight Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi. The meeting attended by several chief ministers and Union ministers and Lieutenant Governors of Union territories was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM said that Haryana Treated Waste Water Policy was formulated with the goal of using 50 per cent treated water by 2025. “The Mera Pani-Meri Virasat scheme was launched to foster water conservation, agricultural variety, and direct seeded rice technique is also being promoted among the farmers. Haryana’s overall water demand in 2021 is anticipated to be 34,962.76 million cubic meters, whereas total water availability from all resources is 20,935.98 million cubic meters. As a result, the Haryana Water Resources Authority has developed an integrated water strategy to bridge the gap between water demand and supply. All 22 district-level water resources planning committees have created block-level plans under this. This is the first attempt of its type in India, where the availability of surface and groundwater resources has been assessed at the block level, and the demand and supply gap of water has been quantified consistently and scientifically,” he said.
In the meeting, Khattar shared Haryana’s plans of playing a key role in India’s development. “Just as the PM ensures development of the country through the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas, the present state government ensures the identical development of Haryana while following the mantra of Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek”. “Haryana was the first to launch the ambitious Vision Document-2030 in the year 2017. Haryana has been termed by NITI Aayog as the state that has introduced continuous reforms. Our score on the Sustainable Development Goals has risen from 57 to 67. Gender equality, hunger and anaemia elimination, quality education, economic growth, and climate change are all priorities for us and special attention for these”, Khattar said in the meeting. Apprising the participants about state government’s ambitious Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme, Khattar said, “Advantages of various government initiatives and services are now being delivered to people’s homes via one single document, eliminating the need for them to visit offices. This has had a beneficial impact on the lives of the common man. Other states are studying the PPP as well. Work on implementing Haryana’s ambitious scheme has begun in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand”.
“Through PPP, more than 44,000 elderly people and 81,000 persons with disabilities (PwDs) got automated pension benefits. About 75 lakh CHIRAYU health cards have been issued under the Ayushman and CHIRAYU Yojana. In the last 5 months, health checkups for more than 7 lakh poor people have been conducted under the Nirogi Haryana Yojana. Furthermore, more than 32 lakh BPL ration cards have been automatically generated for eligible families”, Khattar added.
Khattar also elaborated on state government’s endeavour to improve Ease of Doing business ecosystem in accordance with global standards to stimulate industrial growth.
