It’s an endeavour that will not only promote,but encourage artistic activity and artists in Haryana. The Haryana Institute of Fine Arts ((HIFA) is all set to organize the first Haryana Contemporary Art Exhibition in Chandigarh,along with Department of Information,Public Relations and Cultural Affairs,Haryana at Punjab Arts Council,Chandigarh.
Rooted in tradition,HIFA has been dedicated to the promotion of art and culture in the region for years now and is spreading its wings to make its presence felt nationally. While resources remain a constant struggle for this non-profit organization,the patrons of art have made it possible for HIFA to organize exhibitions,award functions,music recitals,seminars et al. Theres a wealth of contemporary art here,and Haryana is producing very good visual artists, quipped Diwan Manna,a patron of HIFA,who along with painter Viren Tanwar and Kanchan chose 60 works from the submitted 300 entries.
The exhibition will be unique in the sense that it will encompass various events,including a book exhibition on art and heritage by Marg Publications,a slide show of art works by various artists of Haryana,a teracotta and display of artefacts by Gurukul,a museum in Jhajjar. Also lend an ear to Ustad Faiyaz Dagar,Rimpa Siva,Ustad Munnawar Masoom, quips Piyush of HIFA. Theres also an Odissi dance recital by Madhvi Mudgal.
The exhibition,adds Sharda Rathore Chief Parliamentary Secretary,Government of Haryana,Department of Information,Public Relations and Cultural Affairs,will pave the way for many cultural development in Haryana,including a multi-art complex in Kurukshetra,setting up of an Ancient History and Development Society,establishing of a Lalit Kala Akademi et al…
The exhibition is on at Punjab Kala Bhavan from January 14 to 17.
