Delhi’s Vinod Kumar shot four under 64 to be the leader in the clubhouse after day one of the PGTI Players Championship presented by Chandigarh Golf Club. Gaurav Ghei,Naman Dawar and M Dharma are tied second as they fired matching scores of two under 66. On Friday only 60 out of a total of 123 golfers completed round one as play could only begin at 12:30 pm due to the rain and the wet conditions. The par for the course is 68 as each round now comprises of 17 holes for the rest of the tournament. Hole number 5 is not a part of the tournament any more.
Vinod Kumar did not have the best of starts as he bogeyed the third hole after missing a four-footer to go one over. He managed to pull a stroke back with a birdie on the seventh. Vinod then missed some short putts for birdie on the eighth,ninth and 10th. The Delhi golfer fought back with a crucial birdie on the 12th. Thereafter,he picked up the pace,making birdies on the 13th,16th and 18th.
Gaurav Ghei,Naman Dawar and M Dharma are tied second at two under 66. Ghei fired five birdies against two bogeys in his round of 66. Ashok Kumar,Mandeo Singh Pathania,Navtez Singh and Kunal Bhasin are tied fifth at one under 67. The golfers who could not complete round one on Friday,will now resume the first round at 7 am on Saturday. Round two will get underway as soon as the first round is completed on Saturday.
