Vanishing act

A prized visit, and he pulls a Houdini on us. Hrithik Roshan made sure that he when he arrives at The Taj,he goes unnoticed, which he did. While the actor was quietly whisked into the hotel courtesy a secret backdoor entry,we stood there, unaware right in the centre of the hotel lobby, working on a ‘Hello Mr Roshan’. See,when it comes to evading the media, celebs have perfected the vanishing act. With so many of them flying in and sort of elevating the city’s reputation to a celebrity spot,it’s now becoming a norm to stay away from the equally active press. Hollywood actress Neve Campbell walked in and out,but nobody could dare say a hello without her agent’s permission – and the man was stationed in the US! Bebo and Shahid scurried in and out through the kitchen and hidden elevator when they were here shooting for Jab We Met. Aamir Khan was barely visible behind the circle of bouncers twice his size and height. Amitabh Bachchan left early, came in late. Though he’s pretty down to earth,he stays within his set parameters. Evergreen as she is,if you manage to please her and put on your best persistent suit, then Rekha might give in. But we can’t say the same for Amrita Singh. Once she’s in her room, the Do Not Disturb is an order, not a request. Same goes for Kirron Kher. If she’s in make-up or reading her lines, then access to her is almost next to impossible. Just recently,Sunny Deol, made everyone believe he’s left the hotel. The truth is that he took a round around the premises, and re-entered,through the backdoor! Here for the Kurkure ad shoot last month,Kareena hopped in and out without a click. Rani Mukherjee was here a whole month, and all we managed were sneak peaks! That’s what we call ‘abracadabra!’
