In order to seek the suggestions of the residents on the Draft Master Plan 2031,soon the UT Administration is going to make the draft public. Officials in the UT Administration say that in next two to three weeks the draft will be uploaded on the website of the UT Administration,www.chandigarh.gov.in.
Also the administration is mulling on keeping the copies of the draft master plan at the College of Architecture and at two or three other institutions and important public places such as Govt Museum,Sector 10,Le Corbusiers Centre,Sector 19 etc.
The aim behind the move is to bring it in the public domain so that more residents of the city can go through it and suggest changes or file objections.
The officials are mulling that the email addresses of the prominent officials such as the Chief Architect, other officials of the Department of Urban Planing etc will be given so as to send inputs via email.
Significantly, the Draft Master Plan 2031 has been submitted by the Chief Architect to the Advisor to the UT Administrator recently. As per sources, all but two members of the Master Plan committee have signed the copy.
UT Advisor K K Sharma said that The draft will be notified through gazette and public notices in newspapers after considering the suggestions, objections etc.
Interestingly, the idea of coming up with a draft master plan came about on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a Master Plan committee was set up under the UT chief architect Sumit Kaur to prepare a vision document for 2031.
