The Chandigarh Administration is in the process of developing a State Service Delivery Gateway (SSDG) that will act as front-end interface to various e-Governance initiatives and services across all departments of the UT Administration. A meeting was held today in this regard under the chairmanship of UT Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar.
The consultants to SSDG project gave a presentation about the feasibility and various traits of the scheme. The portal shall be citizen friendly where citizens will be able to download the forms through the Common Service Centres (CSC) outlets and submit their applications electronically. This is a Government of India initiative under national e-Governance Plan that involves optimized utilisation of existing IT infrastructure and also providing basic computing infrastructure to various departments as needed.
For the earliest implementation of the scheme,Kumar has requested the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to collect data of Chandigarh and to reconcile it in a systematic manner. It was deliberated to take up the scheme in two phases. The phase I will cover the services
provided free of cost while, phase II would included payable services.
The SSDG project will be finalised after taking inputs from other participating departments and the same will be forwarded to Government of India for funds. Chandigarh Police,Deputy Commissioners Office,Estate Office and Election Commission will be covered in Phase I of the project while other Departments would be covered in Phase II.
Once the portal becomes operational,it shall host all the e-forms for availing of various government services for citizens. The scheme shall enable and ensure interaction between various departments /external entities using standard interfaces.
The submission of application and the delivery of selected services shall be done electronically.
The SSDG will act as standards-based messaging gateway and provide flawless exchange of data across all the administrative departments in Chandigarh. The scheme aims at making all government services accessible to the common man in the locality, through common service delivery outlets along with ensuring efficiency, transparency and reliability of such services at affordable costs, said Kumar.
