UT flags off relief material for Uttarakhand victims

The UT Administration in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society sent six trucks with relief material for pilgrims and locals stranded in calamity-hit Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

The UT Administration in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society sent six trucks with relief material for pilgrims and locals stranded in calamity-hit Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The trucks were flagged off by UT Adviser K K Sharma,from the Karuna Sadan in Sector 11.

The relief material included food items,medicines,water,among others. With extensive damage having been caused at Uttarakhand,several NGOs and resident bodies have come forward to help people of the affected areas. A team of officials of UT Red Cross and Engineering Department will accompany the trucks.

Among those present on the occasion were deputy commissioner Mohd Shayin who is the chairman of UT Red Cross,ADC Tanvi Garg and secretary,Red Cross,Amandeep Kaur among other officials.

Meanwhile,the Chandigarh Golf Club has decided to contribute Rs 10 lakh to those affected at Uttarakhand. The decision was taken in a meeting of the general house of the club on Sunday.
