Unlike the previous elections,this time a high percentage of voters chose morning hours to exercise their franchise with some booths witnessing more than 50 per cent polling by noon.
In Bholath constituency,411 votes were polled out of a total 550 votes in one of the booths set up at a school in Bholath towns main market before noon while in another booth on the same premises 300 votes were polled out of 600 by 12 pm. In Ramgarh village of the same constituency over 35 per cent polling had taken place by 11 am and in Khassan village 600 votes were polled out of 1035 votes till noon.
At Arya School in Kartarpur,50 per cent of the registered voters cast their votes by 12:30 pm while in Kapurthala Tehsil complex,out of 750 registered votes,525 were polled before 1 pm. In another booth set up in the government school at the main market of Kapurthala city,450 votes were polled out of 925 till 1 pm.
In Nakodar area,at majority of the booths more then 40 per cent polling had taken place by 12 noon,while around 33 per cent polling had taken place before by 11 am at a polling booth in Central Town area of Jalandhar (Central) constituency. This time there was huge publicity about the need to exercise our vote which forced me to come early to caste my vote,said one Sandeep Kumar.
