Undertrial hangs self at Amritsar jail

A 23-year-old undertrial for murder at the local central jail committed suicide inside the jail. The deceased Vijay Pal,who hails from Dharaili village near Sarhali in neighbouring Tarn Taran district,was brought here a month ago on charges of murder (Section 302 of IPC).

Deputy Superintendent of Jail Balbir Singh Bisla said the deceased hanged himself from the ceiling of the bathroom in the jail. “We will send the body for post-mortem to know the cause of the death,” said he.
