Two team awards to TBRL scientists

The Chandigarh-based Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory ( TBRL) scientists of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) got two team awards of Rs 5 lakh each from Defence Minister A K Antony during DRDO Award Ceremony in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The Chandigarh-based Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory ( TBRL) scientists of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) got two team awards of Rs 5 lakh each from Defence Minister A K Antony during DRDO Award Ceremony in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The first award “Special Award for Strategic Contributions” was received by Dr Manjit Singh,director,TBRL,on behalf of his team for development of Plastic Bonded Explosive (PBX) for advanced warheads. It is powerful,thermally stable and mechanically stronger than the existing TNT-based melt cast explosives. The PBX will make the warhead safer during storage,transportation and usage.

The second award “Path Breaking Research/ Outstanding Technology Development” was received by Dr D R Saroha on behalf of his team. It was for the development of Explosively Formed Projectile (EFP),a technology used for first time in the country to design a multi-EFP warhead for interceptor missile to overcome limitations of conventional generator warhead.
