Two snatching incidents reported in Chandigarh, one held

One snatcher was caught by the victim with help of cousins and was later handed over to the police.

Even as the police is grappling to put a lid on the rising number of snatching incidents, two more cases of snatching came to the fore on Tuesday. In both the cases, the number and modus-operandi were different.

This time around, one snatcher was caught by the victim with help of cousins and was later handed over to the police. The first case was reported from Sector 25, DBC colony, where two snatchers riding a bike snatched a gold chain of one Sukhbir Singh and fled.

Sukhbir told the police that he was with his cousin at the time of the incident. They caught one of the snatchers who was identified as Baljeet alias Kala. He added that they both took Kala to the police station and later police arrested another person who was identified as Akshay, a resident of DBC colony. Both the accused were booked at Sector 11 police station.

In the second case, a resident of Raipur Khurd village near Hallomajra, Kulbir Singh lodged a complaint alleging that four unidentified men snatched his mobile phone and wallet near Poultry Farm Chowk.  A case has been registered against unknown persons at Sector 31 police station.
