The Punjab Assembly passed two resolutions on Wednesday. First,to approach the Centre to check the increasing prices of agriculture produce,especially food grains,and second,to take steps to check threats due to global warming.
Akali MLA Gurbachan Singh Babehali moved the first resolution. He said,The prices have gone up manifold due to the central policies. Apart from diesel and petrol prices,commodities like atta and dal have also become dearer. The wheat stocks are lying in the godowns and no agency is picking them up,he said. The toll should also be reduced to avoid price rise,he added. Speaking on the resolution,Congress MLA Ajit Inder Singh Moofar said the state governments blame everything on the Centre. It was due to the central policies that India had survived the global recession.
The state should first improve its economy and make sure all central schemes reach the poor.
Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal and Forest Minister Tikshan Sud also blamed the Centre for rising prices.
The resolution was later unanimously passed in the House.
MLA Didar Singh Bhatti moved a resolution that the state government should take steps to check health hazards caused by global warming,apart from checking the increasing pollution.
