Two arrested with over 3 kg opium by Dera Bassi police during anti-drug drive
A case has been registered against them under sections 18, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and both have been taken into custody.

In a major success under its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, the Dera Bassi police has arrested two individuals and seized 3.250 kg opium from their possession.
SP (Investigation) Saurav Jindal said that the operation was led by Inspector Sumit Mor, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Dera Bassi, whose team was deployed near Mubarikpur Bus Stand. During routine checking of suspicious vehicles and individuals, the police noticed two clean-shaven young men standing at the bus stand in a suspicious manner.
“Upon frisking the suspects, the police recovered 3 kg 250 grams of opium from a backpack one of them was carrying,” SP Jindal said.
The accused have been identified as Sagar Kumar, a resident of Asalatpur village, Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, and Chirag, a resident of Rayem Nagla village, Moradabad, UP (currently residing at Mataur village, Sector-71, Mohali).
A case has been registered against them under sections 18, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and both have been taken into custody.
SP Jindal added, “The accused are being produced before the court to obtain police remand. During interrogation, we aim to trace the source of the drugs and identify the intended recipients in the supply chain.”
