Almost three years after the ambitious project of Information Technology Park was mooted,it remains a non-starter.

Almost three years after the ambitious project of Information Technology Park was mooted,it remains a non-starter.

With big players like Infosys,Tech Mahindra and Wipro still not part of the project,making the township an IT hub of the north seems to be a distant dream.

Around 20 IT firms that have invested in the project are yet to start construction. Officials at Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) claim that most of these companies have submitted the blueprints of their buildings which are yet to be approved.

These medium and small companies were allotted plots of one to 22 acres way back in 2008.

Companies like Parabolic Research,Spice Communications,Praxton Impex,Comet Software and Haryana Infotech have pegged their investments at over Rs 1,000 crore.

Sites have also been allotted to IT firms like Altruist Tech,FCS Software Solutions,Innovative Solutions and Paramount Software in the first phase.

Spread over an area of 300 acres,the project was initiated way back in September 2007.

“The project is to be completed in five years which explains why companies are yet to start with the construction. They would start only towards the end of the deadline and we hope to have a frenzy of activity then,” a senior official at HSIDC said.

Meanwhile,HSIDC claims to have completed basic infrastructure development,including construction of roads,a wall near Ghaggar river,laying of sewerage and drainage system and streetlights.
