Three arrested for assaulting SDM

UT Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Dev along with his wife became victims of road rage after three inebriated men allegedly intercepted their car on the Sector 9 and 10 intersection and damaged the windowpanes late on Friday evening.

UT Sub-Divisional Magistrate (East) Abhishek Dev along with his wife became victims of road rage after three inebriated men allegedly intercepted their car on the Sector 9 and 10 intersection and damaged the windowpanes late on Friday evening. All the three accused have been arrested. The couple was returning home to Sector 24 after attending a party at Lake Club.

As per the complaint lodged by the SDM in the Sector-3 police station,three youths in a Palio car were racing with his car on the wrong side. They then intercepted his way following which Abhishek had to stop his car.

A heated scuffle ensued following which one of the youths took out a baton and broke the windowpane of his car. The assailants also allegedly abused and slapped the SDM. The accused chased the vehicle of the SDM till the Matka Chowk roundabout and the bureaucrat managed to note down the registration number of assailants vehicle.The police were called following which the three fled away.

The police arrested all the three on the basis of their car number including an advocate Jagwinder Singh,one businessman Ramandeep Singh and a student Amrinder Singh. Jagwinder and Amrinder are residents of Sirsa district in Haryana while Ramandeep Singh is a resident of Sector 8.

A case under Section 323 (assault),341 (illegal confinement),506 (criminal intimidation),34 (common intention) of the IPC was registered at the Sector-3 police station.
