His words were simple,yet deep. They carried immense weight and meaning,and those who understood this poet-philosophers teachings,felt an enlightenment,a sudden spurt of peace and calm. That was the effect Saint Kabir had. And showcasing and reflecting the same is a festival,celebrating the timeless teachings of Kabir,his life and personality. Suno Bhai Sadho is festival that will celebrate the saints films and bhakti sangeet,and its being presented by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with the Indian National Theatre. To be held on September 26 and 27,at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan,Sector 27,the festival will present four films on Kabir directed by eminent filmmaker Shabnam Virmani. Along with this will be Kabir bhajans in Malwa folk singing tradition by musician Prahlad Tipanya and Kabir Vani recital by Sukhdev Singh Namdhari and a group from Bhaini Sahib who will sing and explain the meaning of Kabirs shabads from the Guru Granth Sahib.
With a rich experience and portfolio in filmmaking on a variety of subjects,Shabnam comes to town with her four films on Kabir. Made under the Kabir Project,these bring together the experiences of a series of ongoing journeys in quest of the 15th century north Indian mystic poet. They inquire into the spiritual and socio-political resonances of Kabirs poetry through songs,images and covnersations. As for Sukhdev Singh Namdhari,he is the disciple of Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra,and has travelled the world over with his music. Santa Singh,another rising star in Indian classical vocal,is Sukhdevs son. They are both training under traditional style from Satguru Jagjit Singh ji Maharaj,
