It was a state sponsored massacre – journalist-turned-author Jarnail Singh on the Black November & life after flinging the shoe
One can easily sense the anger, the raging resentment and the frustration bubbling under. Jarnail Singh is not a man at peace, even after flinging the shoe at P Chidambaram! That was not very appropriate of me,but there was a reason for throwing the shoe. Im proud of the fact that I stood for justice, the former journalist has now written for the same,a book on the anti-Sikh violence of 1984,I Accuse. 1984 was not a riot,it was a murder,a state sponsored massacre carried out in cold blood, retorts Singh at the release of his book at Browser, marking 25 years of Black November.
The memories of their Gurudwara being burnt down in Delhi is still fresh,so is the merciless beating of his uncle and brother. Jarnail can not let go of those fateful three days, and as he releases the book,an updated version,he promises more. Its not a political stunt, neither am I interested in power or politics. This issue, this book is my mission, yours, everyones, for justice, in a way,Singh has chosen an apt title – an iconic French expression of how citizens can fight injustice and win.
