Bollywood continues to rule,whether it is on screen or off-screen,” says Vinay Goel,head of products,Google India,as he shares the Google Zeitgeist 2010 results that lists favourite movies of the netizens,which includes Kites,Endhiran and Dabangg. British actor Aruna Shields and Salman Khan are among the most searched actors,followed by Sonakshi Sinha,Katrina Kaif and Zarine Khan.

The most searched item online also includes songs. “More and more people are turning to the world wide web for music. ‘Songs’ is among the most popular searched terms this year,” says Goel,pointing out the Google Zeitgeist is derived through an exploration of billions of search queries through the year.

He adds that sports also continues to be a favourite,with FIFA World Cup grabbing a lot of attention. Among the networking sites,Facebook,Orkut and YouTube remain in the top 10 list of the most popular searches.

Moreover,the internet is also acting as a “counsellor” to millions of people. Goel states,“People are using it for a range of things,from wanting to know ‘How to get pregnant’ to ‘How to kiss’,‘How to impress a girl’,‘How to reduce weight’ and ‘How to make money’.”
