A teacher training programme jointly implemented by NITI Aayog, the Chamba district administration, and the Bharti Airtel Foundation was inaugurated in Chamba on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal inaugurated the programme. The event marked a key step toward strengthening the professional capacity of teachers and enhancing classroom engagement through digital learning tools.
Lt Col Jitendra Verma, OSD (Education), NITI Aayog, and Dr Rajni Sankhyan, principal, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), joined the launch virtually.
Addressing the gathering, DC Repaswal said the initiative aims to make classroom teaching more interactive, effective, and participatory while equipping teachers with essential professional skills. Describing teachers as the true architects of India’s future, he emphasised that the vision of a developed India can only be realised through educated and empowered generations.
Calling the programme a major step toward teacher empowerment, the DC encouraged participants to dedicate just two hours a month on the “D-Teacher App,” which he said would be a small but meaningful commitment to continuous learning.
He also highlighted that since the state-wide rollout of the initiative depends on Chamba’s successful implementation, teachers must ensure discipline, responsibility, and commitment in carrying out the programme.
Earlier, Praveen Kumar from Bharti Airtel Foundation welcomed participants and shared a detailed presentation. Officials including Balbir Singh, Deputy Director (Elementary Education), and representatives from the foundation — Amit Taneja, Samardeep Singh, and Sandeep Kumar — also shared insights on the D-Teacher App.
Teachers from all 15 educational blocks of Chamba participated in the launch, which also saw the presence of Bhag Singh, Deputy Director (Education Quality), and Umakant Anand, OSD (Education). The training programme focuses on multi-grade and multi-level teaching, with special emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy, and aims to promote digital inclusion in classrooms.
