It’s a unique workshop, for it focuses on what makes us humane the ability to communicate. Non-Violent Communication (NVC),also known as Compassionate Communication,is an invitation to connect with the inner beauty of ourselves and others and move toward oneness with all beings. During the two-day workshop, well learn a different way of communicating expressing ourselves honestly, hearing the deeper message when people speak in a way we dont appreciate, connecting deeply with ourselves and others, making clear do-able requests, says Shammi Nanda, who is conducting the workshop. Learning to hear no without hearing rejection, dealing with difficult situations heartfully, finding solutions mutually, communicating through feelings instead of blame and demand /defence and attack, and expressing gratitude are some of the essentials of NVC.
We will explore these ideas with dialogues, role plays and real-life situations, says Nanda. Lunch will be potluck, and everyone is invited to bring a dish to share at the workshop space. The workshop is being offered in the spirit of gift culture, and any contributions will be used to organise more such workshops and spread the word.
The NVC workshop is scheduled on November 30 and December 1,from 10 am to 5 pm,at Sangeet Natak Akademi office,Sector 34,Chandigarh
