Tagore in various hues

After the much-hyped theatre festival at Tagore Theatre, now a painting workshop also pays tribute to Rabindranath Tagore. Organized by the Government College of Art,around 30 students pursuing masters in fine arts took to the canvas. Most of their works were either portraits of Tagore or were inspired by his works. But they were all also deeply nationalistic. “With Independence Day round the corner,it’s hard not to get inspired,” says Mehak,a second-year student, who painted the national flag. Parneet Mann,a first-year student, filled her canvas with black and white colours, and accentuated it splashes of saffron and green. A corner of the college’s exhibition hall was dedicated to the prints of Tagore artworks, alongside a table stacked with books on Tagore.
