The programme will include lectures by eminent scientists from various research institutes and universities, science laboratory demonstrations, poster presentations and science quizzes.
It will also include film screenings and visits to premier science institutes in the region.
In his inaugural lecture,Prof S Chandrasekaran (Chairman of Chemical Sciences Division IISc,Bangalore and national convenor Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) said KVPY was an ongoing programme started by the Union Department of Science and Technology to encourage students of Basic Sciences,Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas.
The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
Prof Sathyamurthy said the institutes research programme was in full swing with instruments for experimental research in Physics,Chemistry and Biology being housed in the fully operational Central Analytical Facility building.
The facility is currently host to the NMR Research Facility housing two sophisticated high-field FTNMR spectrometers (a 400MHz and a 600MHz which is the highest in the region in an academic institution),the Raman & NSOM spectrometer lab,and the X-Ray crystallography lab. The camp participants will be able to see the newly installed equipment, which is expected to enthuse them to take up science as a profession, added the Director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.
