Summer camp held for poor students

A summer camp for underprivileged students has been organised by CII-Yi at Kaimbwala.

A summer camp for underprivileged students has been organised by CII-Yi at Kaimbwala. The students are being taught painting, dancing and games that teach discipline and team work. They are also provided with basic knowledge of computers.

All these students study in government schools in the evening session and previously lacked confidence and enthusiasm. Mansi,a CII-YI volunteer said,“These students have a great willingness to learn and possess immense potential. They also performed as a dance team with great confidence and were also appreciated by the audiences in Sector 17 this March. Since the time they have come under CII-Yi,they have developed immense zeal and confidence.”

CII had initiated the making of a vividha kendra in September 2012 to give the underprivileged students a chance to groom their hidden talents. The lack of adequate resources and direction was hindering the progress. The students attend the vividha classes after school to learn computers, painting and dancing.

Ranjit,a regular student in the vividha centre, says that this camp has made him realise his potential for studies and that he has also developed an interest to become a dancer,a dream that he earlier found difficult to achieve.
