One of the brand ambassadors of INIFD,he’s in the city to judge the designer collections to be showcased at the annual show ‘Designer Medley’. “I am really impressed when I see the way students are churning out creative collections…I think when it comes to fashion and making a statement,the kids in Chandigarh have an edge over the others,” the star stylist points out. Speaking of stars and their style,Ashley is now putting together a wardrobe for Salman Khan for all his films. “I have worked with him in the past for Yuvraj,Veer and his show Dus Ka Dum,” informs Rebello who will dress up the actor in forthcoming films like ‘Wanted’ with Ayesha Takia,‘London Dreams’ where he stars opposite Asin and ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ with Kareena. So does Salman throw temper tantrums when it comes to choosing clothes as well,we quiz Ashley. To this the soft-spoken stylist answers,“I think all of you out there have just seen one side of Salman. The other side is very soft and humane,” says Rebello who willingly lists out examples of the star’s generous and down to earth nature,not to miss out on his ‘Being Human’ Tees doing the rounds. “He’s just misunderstood,” Ashley nods to say. While Rebello will be busy with Salman this year,he’s also doing clothes for his lady love Katrina. “She’s definitely a style icon,” believes the stylist who also rates Sonam Kapoor as someone who has a style of her own. Also lately there’s been an influx of international brands tying up with Bollywood. What’s Ashley’s take? “While on one hand it’s good,since most of the big names send clothes,shoes,bags,even makeup for free. But at the same time,our own designers won’t get to see their work showcased on the biggest fashion advertising board – Bollywood.” We couldn’t agree more.
