Students of KB DAV School,Sector 7,The Gurukul and The Gurukul Global School observed No Honking Day,jointly with volunteers of NGO Yuvsatta,state cell of NSS and the traffic police to promote peace on roads and pave way for a noise-free environment on Saturday. The programme started with a bicycle rally in which more than 300 NSS volunteers pedalled from Parade Ground to Sukhna Lake. The rally was flagged off by Ajoy Sharma,Special Finance Secretary and Director,Higher Education. Giving information about the campaign and honouring best volunteers of the day,Ishwar Singh,director,Department of Environment,said that unnecessary honking on roads in the city not only causes noise pollution but also adds to increasing number of road rage instances. Awareness drives at traffic lightpoints by NSS volunteers and students from Government College of Arts,GCG-11,Government College of Education,Dev Samaj College of Education and Postgraduate Government College,Sector 11,were also held.
