The stalemate between the villagers and JP Cement over the issue of enhanced compensation of land acquired by the company continues.

The farmers today again stopped the water supply to the company from Treda and Samtyari rivulets. On Sunday, the district administration had held a meeting at Arki with the representatives of protesting farmers and company officials for an amicable solution to the month-long agitation. The meeting, chaired by DC Dr Amandeep Garg, was attended by former chairman of Kunihar Block development Committee Thakur Dass Bhardwaj,Mangal Panchayat Pardhan Deep Chand, former pardhan Deep Lal,General Secretary of Mangal Vikas Parishad NL Chauhan,Director of the company KP Sharma,vice-president Joginder Sheru and other government officials including Solan Superintendent of Police SPS Verma.

The meeting went on for over five hours, but did not reach any conclusion. The protesting farmers are demanding enhancement in compensation given to them after acquiring their cultivable land for setting up the cement plant.

Chief Minister PK Dhumal today asked the district administration to again hold talks with the agitating farmers and resolve the issue as earlier as possible. Sources say the CM has asked the DC to invite the representatives of the farmers and company officials instead of outsiders, who are allegedly giving a political colour to the agitation.

Chauhan said that though the officials assured at the meeting that the company will lift the debris dumped on private land, the demand of farmers for enhanced compensation has not been accepted.
