St Xavier’s cagers claim title

Hosts St Xavier's School,Sector 44 claimed the title in the U-14 boys' category with a 36-18 win over St Kabir School in the final.

Hosts St Xavier’s School,Sector 44 claimed the title in the U-14 boys’ category with a 36-18 win over St Kabir School in the final of the St Xavier’s Trophy Basketball Tournament organised by St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School on Friday. It was an one-sided final as the hosts team dominated the proceedings right from the start. Manpreet was the main scorer for the winning team as he scored eight points while Sumeet scored eight points also. Khushman also scored eight points as the the team won the match with an emphatic margin of 36-18.

For the losing team,Garv scored eight points while Gurtegh scored three points. In the U-18 boys’ category,New Public School,Sector 18 emerged as the winner in the final with a 56-40 win over St Xavier’s School,Sector 44. The New Public School cagers were in fine form as they took the leas in the initial party of the match. Gurneet was the top scorer for the winning team as he scored 16 points. Sartaj was the other main scorer for the team as he scored 11 points. Gurluvleen scored seven points. For the losing team,Stanzin was the top scorer as he scored 12 points. Vishwadeep scored 10 points while Prabhsimran scored eight points.

In the U-19 girls’ final,New Public School,Sector 18 emerged as the winner in the final as they defeated Sacred Heart School,Sector 26. Earlier in the semi-final stage,New Public School,Sector 18 scored a 33-18 win over St Xavier’s School. Neha was the top scorer for the winning team as she scored 15 points while Prakriti scored eight points. For the losing team,Deepkirat scored ten points. In the other semi-final encounter,Sacred Heart School scored a 36-20 win over Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36. Ravleen was the main scorer for the winning team as she scored ten points. Priyanka scored nine points. For the losing team,Kiranpreet scored seven points while Jasmine eight points.
