Shweta of Panjab University emerged as the champion with three points in the Chandigarh Women’s Chess Championship held recently at St Xavier’s School,Sector 44. Arunima Goyal was in tow,followed by Simranjeet Kaur and Tanya Kaushal. These four players have been selected to represent Chandigarh at the Women’s ‘B’ National Chess Championship to be held in Nagpur in September.

St Josephs tourney from today
Satluj Public School-41 will take on Swami Ram Tirth School in the inaugural match of the St. Joseph’s Under-13 Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament to be played at the St. Joseph’s School ground in Chandigarh on Tuesday. In this cricket tournament eight teams are taking part.

Teams: St Joseph’s School-44,St Anne’s School-32,Satluj Public School-41,Doon Public School,Saupin’s School-32,Ryan International School-49,APJ School Kharar and Swami Ram Tirth School.

U-19 cricket trials today
Trials to select Under-19 Punjab probables will be conducted on August 25 at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School,Sector-40,Chandigarh,at 3.00 pm. The Punjab,Chandigarh and Haryana teams along with other teams will take part in 1st All India U-19 National Cricket Tournament organised by Cricket Council of India to be held from August 31 to September 3.
