Punjabi music industry adds yet another budding singer to its growing repertoire as newbie Balli Riar makes his debut with a new album titled Never Done Before. With a total of eight tracks, the album’s song Banda Maarna is already playing on the radio. The lyrics for the album have been penned by Manjit Pandori,Nek Barang,Sangila and Ranjit Pakhowalia. Unlike the traditional folk flavour and UK bhangra beats,Riar has infused a new tone and tune to the album. “The title track,Never Done Before, has an Arabic sound to it,while another track has been done in a retro style,” says Riar,a sports enthusiast and music lover since school days. A diehard fan of Chamkila,Kuldip Manak and Jazzy B,Riar has done his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Sunderland,London. “It was during my stay abroad that I felt this strong desire and passion towards Punjabi music, and the second I returned,I started my vocal training under my guru,Baldev Kakri,” says Riar, who is all set to get the record rolling. Riar has got music director Honey Singh on board, who has also given rap playback to two songs in the album released by T-Series.
