Software for e-vigilance launched

Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir today launched a software,“e-Vigil”,for monitoring and inquiry of cases developed by the National Informatics Centre,Haryana. Speaking on the occasion,Director General,Vigilance,S C Sinha said the software would help in making the investigation transparent and also update the information of Vigilance cases and inquiries registered in the Bureau.

The software would also provide a detailed information about the progress of investigation,date of finalisation and stage of inquiry. Similarly,details of criminal cases,the accused,summary of allegations,details of remaining investigation would also be available on the website.

Since the software is web enabled,all officers will be able to access it with their user ID and password,from any computer. SPs would also be able to view the reports of their respective ranges.

Sinha said the main feature of the software was the data entry system,which is based on unicode system and can be operated both in Hindi and English . To make the officers computer-friendly,nearly 150 inquiry officers have been imparted training. The Chief Secretary directed the State Vigilance Bureau to update its website every 15 days and punish the officials concerned in case of non-compliance.
