The Chandigarh Police today arrested six tourist visa applicants on charges of providing fake documents to an immigration firm.
The UT Police had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to curb fake immigration,student,tourist visas. The SIT,headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),Anil Joshi had detected the fraud last week with the arrest of two operators of Atlantic Overseas Consultancy in Sector 32.
The SIT today arrested six applicants namely Amandeep Singh,a resident of Yamuna Nagar,Sukhdev Singh,resident of Karnal,Manjit Singh,a resident of village Khalsa Basna in district Kurukshetra,Kashmir Singh,a resident of village Paherkalan district Patiala,Amrik Singh,a resident of Patiala and Kulwinder Singh,a resident of Jalandhar.
They were arrested after Vikram Sharma and Viney Chadha owner of Atlantic Overseas Consultancy in Sector-32-D were arrested on November 18.
According to police,the six applicants went to the visa office of United Kingdom in Chandigarh and had fake documents pertaining to address and bank statement,fake income tax return and wrong mobile numbers.
This,according to the police,was intentional with the connivance of the main accused Vikram Sharma alias Vicky and Viney Chadha for getting tourist visas of United Kingdom illegally.
