A SPECIAL Investigation Team (SIT), probing the sexual harassment case against Haryana minister, Sandeep Singh, has filed an application in a local court seeking to conduct a brain mapping test of the accused minister.

The SIT, which moved the application, is headed by DSP (east) Palak Goel.

As per details, the application was filed in the court of Acting Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), TPS Randhawan last week and has been listed for hearing on March 31. The court is likely to issue a notice to the Haryana minister on the same soon.

A source said, “In matters involving the brain mapping test of an individual, the consent of the opposite party is necessary. Hence, a notice will be issued to the minister Sandeep Singh. He has recorded his statement twice in the case already.”

Chandigarh Police had on December 31 lodged an FIR against Sandeep Singh, a former Olympian and Indian hockey team captain, on charges of stalking, illegal confinement, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation after receiving a complaint in this regard from a junior women’s athlete coach. The FIR was registered at Sector 26 police station.

Sandeep Singh has termed all allegations against him baseless.

Following the accusations, Sandeep had surrendered his sports portfolio to Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khatar, on January 1. At present, Sandeep Singh holds independent charges of Printing and Stationery Department. With the Opposition seeking the minister’s dismissal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had insisted that “leveling allegations against someone and registration of an FIR because of that do not prove anyone guilty” Khattar also said that resigning from the minister’s post on moral grounds comes into play only if the person concerned thinks he has made a mistake.

In the last two and half months, the SIT of Chandigarh Police has visited the official residence of Sandeep Singh twice. The woman coach has recorded her statements before the SIT at least twice.
