Smelling foul play,Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) moved an application to Deputy Commissioner regarding the cancellation of some fancy numbers. Some bidders for these numbers formed a cartel to make sure that the bidding does not go high. Following the complaint,the office of deputy commissioner cancelled the seven numbers that they thought were sold at lower prices as per prior agreement between the bidders.
Deputy commissioner Mohammed Shayin said,We have cancelled seven numbers and an inquiry has also been set up to investigate any irregularity.
Seven numbers have been cancelled by the deputy commissioner office. The numbers that were cancelled are CH 01 AU 0004 which was sold for Rs 24,000,CH 01 AU 0005 which was sold for Rs 42,000,CH 01 AU 0006 which was sold for Rs 16,500,CH 01 AU 0014 which was sold for Rs 11,000,CH 01 AU 0018 which was sold for Rs 11,000,CH 01 AU 0021 sold for Rs 11,000 and CH 01 AU 9999 that was sold for Rs 10,000.
As many as 23 fancy numbers that did not attract bidders will be auctioned again along with the cancelled numbers.
The auction that was held by the Registering and Licensing Authority for the CH01AU series fetched Rs 40.32 lakh on Friday. A total of 115 numbers were to be auctioned but due to absence of some bidders,107 numbers were put to auction.
