A collision, followed by a pile-up,triggered a chaos on the road dividing Sectors 16 and 17 near the Municipal Corporation building on Saturday. The incident occurred when an Innova car driver hit three other cars waiting at the signal near the MC building. The impact of the accident was so strong that all the cars were extensively damaged, though all occupants escaped unhurt.

Hemant Batra, whose Maruti SX4 was reduced to mangles, said: “I was waiting at the signal when out of nowhere the car hit my car from behind. The impact was so strong that my car somersaulted and collided with the Innova. I had a miraculous escape,” he added.

Tarlochan’s Skoda banged into the Honda City (Ch03W3113) standing in front of it after the incident. “Even my car has been damaged. The rear part is almost gone,” said Dr Gurdeep Singh, the Honda City driver.
