Sehajdhari Sikh case a sensitive matter: CM

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said that the issue of validity of the newly elected general house of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee,in light of Punjab and Haryana High Court order resorting voting rights to Sehajdhari Sikhs,is a sensitive matter and SAD was taking legal opinion about the same.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said that the issue of validity of the newly elected general house of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC),in light of Punjab and Haryana High Court order resorting voting rights to Sehajdhari Sikhs,is a sensitive matter and SAD was taking legal opinion about the same.

Asked whether fresh SGPC elections will be held,Badal said conducting polls was a long exercise and while 15 members have already been coopted in the first meeting of SGPC,the president will be elected in January.

The chief minister went on to slam PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal by calling him an opportunist. This has been proved by PPP co-founders Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Jagbir Brar leaving the party,he added.

Calling PPP a party of defectors,Badal said that on the one hand, these leaders take oath in the name of great martyrs and on the other, leave the party just for a seat.

“Those who are not loyal to the party, how can they be loyal to the state?” he asked.

When asked about the seat sharing arrangement with alliance partner BJP,Badal said that there was no controversy and everything will be settled amicably.

Meanwhile, while addressing a rally at Talwara,Badal asked the people to exercise their franchise only in the favour of that party, which had ensured overall development and welfare of all sections of the society.
