Sector 5 gets a face-lift,thanks to grand wedding

Consider this,when a patchwork covering the potholes on the road leading to Sector 5 peeled off within a day,Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) put its workers back to work on Monday for further repairs. Making it apparent that the repair work was solely for the purpose of the ceremony,HUDA officials did not even bother to repaint the zebra crossing on the road which faded off following the repair work. “We will have to wait for more weddings to take place in the Ahluwalia family for some development in the city,” said a councillor. “While there are so many other issues yet to be addressed,she has dedicated all her attention on revamping one particular area and this so-called development won’t last long given the selfish motive behind it,” the councillor added.

Not only overnight repairs of the road,the change of venue for Apni Mandi that happened last week also suggest the number of strings that can be pulled for a VIP hosted occasion. Last week,the venue had to be shifted from the Sector 5 ground to the one near Shalimar Mall so that arrangements for the weddings could be carried out smoothly. While talking to Newsline Market Committee,Panchkula assured that this week mandi would be held in the Sector 5 HAFED ground. However,Suman Lata,Secretary of the Committee refused to comment on how the arrangements will to be made for the same with a grand wedding the previous night. She also refused to comment on why the venue was shifted last week.

Speaking on behalf of the Mayor,her husband Dhaninder Ahluwalia said,“The repair work of the road is not related to the wedding and as far as the change of venue for apni mandi is concerned,this is not the first wedding which has taken place there.”
