A fortnight after the driver of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and IT Director Tanvi Garg lodged a complaint of alleged apprehension of breach of peace resulting in harassment of Vikrant Kumar, the driver on Tuesday withdrew his complaint. Following this, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kavle V Parshuram discharged Vikrant Kumar from the case.
Jagdip Singh Diwan, president of an NGO and Kumars family friend said,We appeared in the court of SDM (South) on Tuesday. However, the court officials said that she was on leave and our case was transferred to the ADC.
Diwan added,When we approached the ADC court, the officials told us that the court will be in session from 3 pm to 5 pm. They said that Kumar will be informed when his case will come up for hearing. But at 5 pm,we received a call stating that he had been discharged from the case,as Gargs driver had withdrawn his complaint.
Kumar and his associates then approached the court demanding a copy of the judgment. We have applied for a copy of the judgment and are expecting to get it on Wednesday by 11 am, Kumar said.
When asked if Kumar would move the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the same,he said,Only after we get a copy of the judgment by the ADC,we will decide whether to move the court. We need to know the grounds on which I have been discharged.
Sector-44 resident Kumar was arrested by the police, hours after he reportedly avoided a collision with SDM (east) Gargs official vehicle on April 17. Kumar spent nearly half-a-day in police custody and was later produced in the court of Tanvi Garg. The SDM released him on bail with a surety of Rs 10,000.
