Use of robots is emerging as a common trend in city schools wherein students prepare working robots by applying the concepts of science and mathematics in assembling different components.
For instance,in assembling the pick and place robot, students can develop models which are used for loading and unloading machines and placing components along circuit boards, moving parts and along conveyor belt. A continuous path control robot demonstrates welding and cutting-machine parts.
Schools where robotic labs have already been set up include Saupins School Sector 32,Dikshant School in Zirakpur,Millennium School and Gurukul School in Mohali.
Robotic projects have been incorporated in the curriculum of the schools under Central Board of Secondary Educations (CBSE) system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for Class III to X.
The schools have tied up with a Gurgaon-based company named Techtronics Education which has developed a kit of assembled robot components. The average cost of one kit, varies between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.
The schools informed that the amount spent on the project will not have any reflection on the fee of the students.
