School bus rams into divider,two kids hurt

The mishap took place at 7.30 am when a mini bus carrying nearly 45 students was heading to the school and the driver allegedly lost the control and rammed into the divider.

“All the children had a miraculous escape,” said the incharge of police post Sector 19,Assistant Sub Inspector,Baldev Singh. “Two children who had received minor injuries were taken to PGI and later discharged.”

Soon after the accident,parents of five children reached the spot after the teacher-incharge who was present inside the bus informed them about the accident.

The students were later sent to school in another bus.

“A group of parents lodged a complaint against the driver of the school bus,but it was withdrawn later,” Singh said. “We did not register any case,but issued a challan against the driver for dangerous driving.”

At about 8 am,as many as 50 parents met the principal of the school,seeking strict action against the driver.

Triveni Prasad Ojha,father of a Class III student,said,“It is highly irresponsible on the part of the school to have employed such drivers. The safety of so many children was at stake today. The school must appoint a new driver. Even the bus in which the children were travelling today is not in a good condition. We have demanded the replacement of buses too.”

“All students are safe. They have been sent to their classrooms,” said R B Singh,coordinator of the school.
